BEARTH 300: Environmental Systems Thinking (Turner): Workshop

Workshop

Our goals for today are to:

  • Explore and/or review the resources and search strategies that you'll use throughout the research process.
  • Identify which research method(s) might be most useful in gathering evidence for your own research question.
  • Begin gathering sources that will support your research proposal.
  • To be able to identify the research methods described in a scholarly article.

Today's activities:

  1. A brief overview of the Campus Library resources available to all students.
  2. Begin work on the scholarly articles worksheets.

Although you will complete each worksheet individually, you are encouraged to work together and share your results!

Other questions to consider as you begin your research:

  1. What disciplines does your question encompass?
  2. What kind of evidence do you think would be useful in answering or addressing your question?
  3. Who might collect that kind of information/evidence?
  4. Where will you begin your search to find that evidence?
