History : Pacific Northwest: Primary Sources: Washington

The Pacific Northwest Collection, comprised of printed and archival materials, documents the people, history, and culture of the region. Some of the published and all of the unpublished primary source material related to Washington State history is located in the PNW Collection housed in Special Collections (basement Allen Library South). Unpublished archival materials include personal papers such as letters, diaries, scrapbooks, organizational meeting minutes, photographs and other material. The PNW Collection guide (also linked from left toolbar) provides information on finding and using this material.

Many more Washington State newspapers are available on microfilm on the ground floor of Suzzallo Library.  To identify these papers search for the name of the city followed by the word newspapers in UW Libraries Search, e.g., bremerton newspapers. You can also use the Microforms and Newspapers Collection Database or the card catalog of newspapers arranged by region kept on the ground floor of Suzzallo Library.
