UW Libraries Microforms & Newspapers Collection

 

The UW Libraries has a large collection of newspapers published in the United States and around the world.  Current and historic newspapers may be available in paper, online, and on microfilm.  Many of the print and microfilm newspapers are held in the Microforms & Newspapers Collection located in Suzzallo Library.

Support Journalism and Be Informed: Subscribe to a Reputable News Source

One of the best ways to be an informed and engaged citizen is to be aware of current events that impact you economically, politically, socially near home, throughout the nation and beyond.  Here are three newspapers offering discounts to subscribers:

Stay informed about what's happen in your city, county, and state by reading your local newspaper!  

The Seattle Times has discounted trial subscriptions available for digital & print versions.  Try 12 weeks for $12 for the online.

The Washington Post online is free to all students, staff & faculty with a uw.edu (or any .gov, .mil, .edu) email address.  

ACTIVATE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION: 

  1. Go to washingtonpost.com
  2. Click on Sign In to yoru Profile at the top right of the home page.  Create an account using your UW email address.
  3. Once you've registered, you will be directed to your Washington Post Profile.  If you're not automatically redirected to your profile after you've signed in, click your username at the top of the page and choose "Profile."  
  4. Once you are in your profile, go to the My Subscriptions tab and follow the instructions on how to get a free subscription with your valid UW email address.  

Students can subscribe to the NYT online for only $1 a week (slightly more for faculty & staff).  Discounts for print newspaper too!
