What is Call Number?

In the catalog, you found a book and its call number. What is the call number? It is a unique number for each book on the shelf. The call number is based on subject classification system. This means books on the same topic will be next to each other. If you like to care to know about the system (LC Classification System), here is further information at http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/lcco/
