Recommended Reads for Equity: Home
Recommended Reads for Equity engages the UW community in critical conversations, reading, critical thinking and community building; all of which are essential to lifelong learning and engaged citizenship.
Guided by the UW community, we collect recommendations for books about equity, diversity, and inclusion and create opportunities to share recommendations and hold conversations and discussions as a whole campus community.
The community’s recommendations are used to build a book collection in Odegaard Library, ultimately creating a lasting legacy of UW’s commitment to and interest in equity.
A Project in Process
Recommended Reads for Equity is an ongoing project. We periodically review the recommendation form, collect the books, add them to our physical collection, and share the recommendations on this guide. You can browse the books currently in the collection alphabetically within a given genre. Thank you for your patience as we continue to grow the collection.

- Community Reads at UW Bothell“The purpose of the Library’s Community Reads program is to facilitate quarterly events in the Library around common books or other media. Our intention is to choose readings which will cultivate productive discussion in the campus community around equity, social justice, and diversity.”
