Arctic Sea Ice and International Policy: Inuit Governance & Representation

Repurposed course guide from 2020 Task Force (JSIS 495) section "Arctic Sea Ice and International Policy"

Inuit Governing and Representative Organizations

The organizations listed on this page are of two types. First, there are representative organizations (councils, regional corporations, etc.) whereby Inuit people relate to the Government of Canada and internationally. Second, Inuit government agencies of territories (Nunavut) and regions (Nunatsiavut and Nunavik/Kativik) in Canada. As with any government bodies, these produce a variety of publications including official policy, assessments, data, online tools, annual reports, meeting notes, etc. Many of these documents are not indexed in scholarly bibliographic databases but are open-access, and can be downloaded directly from the agencies' websites. To find them, go to the organization's website and look for sections such as:

  • documents - publications - reports - resources
  • research - information - knowledge
  • meetings
  • news - media - press
  • activities - work - programs - issues - services
  • mandate - information - policies
