Finding Books & Media

Use the UW Libraries Search system to search for materials. See the UW Libraries Search-FAQ page for instructions.

Print Books

  • Books are shelved according to Library of Congress call numbers, which group items together by subject. For example, the book Nurse Coaching: Integrative Approaches for Health and Wellbeing has the call number RT76 .D67 2015. Similar books about this topic will be on the shelf near this call number. The majority of the nursing books are grouped with the call number prefixes R – RZ, and W – WY.

Reference Books

  • Many reference materials are available onlineSome encyclopedias, dictionaries and other materials that are referred to frequently are kept in the Reference section on the first floor for library use only. Reference books include titles such as the Encyclopedia of Epidemiology, and Stedman's Medical Dictionary for the Health Professions and Nursing. The Reference section also includes writing, career, and hot topics books.

Multimedia (Films, Sound Recordings, etc.)

  • Online/streaming collections page
  • The Campus Library has a growing collection of DVDs, videotapes, CDs, and video games located on the first floor. Contact the Library about how to locate the audio/visual materials you need. Popular films and documentaries can be checked out for seven days. Many of our films can only be used in the library, unless they are needed for a class presentation. We also have access to the UW Seattle and Tacoma campus media collections. You can request items from these campuses to be sent to the Bothell Campus Library through the UW Libraries Search and check them out for seven days. Some videos are also available by request through the UW Libraries Search.
