FAQ

Commonly asked questions from Health Sciences Library users.

How can I tell if UW has access to a specific book or journal?

Library ShelfUse the UW Libraries Search (sometimes referred to as the Libraries Catalog) to find books and journals available through the UW and our regional partners. Log in at the upper right hand corner so you have access to online content.

Note: if you are looking for a journal, there may be multiple entries. For example, the New England Journal of Medicine shows up in several listings: 1928-1959 issues are in storage, 1960-2015 issues on the shelf on the second floor, and 1990-present issues available online.

Tip: to limit results to UW-owned content, click on Articles, Books and More next to the search box to see more options in a dropdown menu.  Select UW Libraries to see UW-owned resources. You can select more limiting options from the Filters on the left: Available Online or Available in the Library.
