What is Open Student Work?

Open student work is any contribution a student makes to an open scholarship project or as a participant in an open pedagogy environment. This guide focuses on open student work that students are required to do as part of a class or UW-affiliated project, especially using UW Libraries-hosted tools or platforms.

What's in this Guide?

Working openly with students can be a powerful pedagogical approach. Students are typically highly engaged and invested in work that they know they are sharing with others outside the classroom. Open research and digital scholarship projects can also help students to see themselves as creators of new knowledge and as participants in scholarly conversations.

Student rights and student privacy are important aspects of working openly with students. This guide provides information and resources for developing and facilitating successful open student digital scholarship projects.
