EndNote - Basic (Online) & Desktop

This guide contains information on the citation management tool EndNote. Content references both the Basic (Online/Free) version and the Desktop (Paid) version.

Search Your EndNote Basic Library

You can search your library to find specific citations.  Use the Search box under the References tab.  Specify the folder to be searched, if desired.

Search Databases

You can search certain external databases from within EndNote Basic.  Choices of databases are primarily limited to online library catalogs, PubMed, and, if on campus or using Husky OnNet, you can also search Web of Science directly.

NOTE: For topic searches, we recommend searching PubMed via the PubMed website due to the limited search options from within EndNote Basic.
