System Coordination

a. Collection Development within the UW Library System

  • The Head of the Built Environmens Library  has primary responsibility for purchasing books in architecture, construction management, landscape archtiecture, real estate studies and urban design and planning.  The Head of the BE Library is also responsible for acquiring books on art for the Odegaard Undergraduate Library. The selector of materials in architecture coordinates with various appropriate selectors in the library system in their acquisitions, particularly selectors who collect materials in a non-English language, as they are the primary selectors in those languages. This has happened most often with librarians in the UW East Asia Library.  In addition,  the BE Head has worked with colleagues in the UW Art Library, Suzzallo Library, Engineering Library and Special Collections when acquiring new materials.

b. Cooperative Loan Arrangements
