Pressbooks: Publishing Your Book

When you’re ready to publish your book, go to the Book Info area from your dashboard menu. Add essential information such as authors, a cover image, and rights information

Use this area to add title, subtitle, and author information. This information will appear on your book homepage.

If you are working with a collaborative group or a group of students, consider using a group name such as your organization or a student-chosen name such as “UWB Zine Queenz” as the book’s “Author.”

Your cover image helps tell your readers what your book is all about, and will display on your book homepage. Use a unique image that you or your collaborators have created for maximum impact and interest.

Pressbooks books are published with a rights statement on the landing page. Be sure to select a copyright license for your book before you publish it. 

The UW’s Pressbooks service is designed to support open publishing and scholarship, so we encourage authors to consider a CC BY or CC BY-NC license for their projects. Please consult our Creative Commons guide and contact us if you’d like to talk through Creative Commons licenses and what they would mean for your project.

This is the space where you will need to add a description of your book that will appear on the book’s homepage. The Book Tagline and Long Description are optional, but be sure to include a Short Description so readers of your book will immediately see your book’s topic and scope.

The Book Info screen includes many additional options for describing the details of your book. Most of this information is optional. Please contact us if you would like to discuss how to best use these fields for your particular book and goals.
