The UW Ethnomusicology Archives has been collecting and curating unique ethnographic music recordings, films, and video since 1962.

About this page

This page showcases recordings from the Americas. The recordings are divided geographically into the following sections: North American, Central America, South America, the Caribbean (including Puerto Rico), Indigenous PNW, and the Seattle area. Strengths of the Americas include blues recordings and films made by Robert Garfias, extensive Coast Salish recordings created by Upper Skagit elder, researcher, and storyteller Vi Hilbert, and collections included in the Seattle Sounds Project.
