About Stan James

Photo: Paul Dorpat

Stan was born about 1935. He was a very popular folksinger and personality. He spent his working life as a boat wright in the Seattle area. About 1960, he and his wife Kirby traveled to Australia where he sang and collected traditional material. On his return, he owned and operated "The Corrobboree", which became a very successful coffee house. Stan was a very colorful person, always quick with a grin and an interesting spin on things. He passed away at his Granite Falls, Washington, home in 2008. More information about Stan is available here
