CIS Hearing Finding Aids
Finding aids are used to identify documents and pinpoint their location. Information such as title, CIS number, and SuDoc number may be included. The following finding aids are print resources and the items they index can be found via the above resources.
- CIS Annual1970-2011. Indexes congressional documents such as committee prints, reports, hearings, and other materials relating to the creation of public laws. This index forms the core of the Proquest Congressional database (Access for all on-campus; login required from off-campus). In 2001 the title changed to CIS Index Annual.
- CIS U.S. Congressional Committee Hearings Index1833-1969. Predates the CIS Annual; Indexes transcripts of hearings and testimony with supporting materials. Published between 1981 and 1985, each part covers a separate time frame. Documents are indexed by subject, titles, bill numbers, SuDoc numbers, and personal names. Items indexed here can also be found through ProQuest Congressional (Access for all on-campus; login required from off-campus).
- CIS Index to Unpublished US House of Representatives Committee Hearings1833-1972. Indexed by subject, personal names, titles, and bill numbers.
- CIS Index to Unpublished US Senate Committee Hearings - Catalog Search1823-1980; enter "CIS Index to Unpublished US Senate Committee Hearings" and choose "University of Washington Libraries." Indexed by subject, personal names, titles, and bill numbers.

- Gallagher Law Library1980-present. The Gallagher Law Library has hearings on microfiche shelved by their SuDoc number.
- Hearings on Microform at the U.W.1951-1961. Ask at the GMM help desk for assistance in finding the desired microfilm reel numbers, retrievable by staff from our Basement storage area, Cabinet 14. Please provide staff with as much bibliographic information as possible (Congress, Session, Hearing number, SuDocs number, etc.).
