NOAA is responsible for the management, conservation and protection of living marine resources within the United States' Exclusive Economic Zone (water three to 200 miles offshore); site includes Commercial Fisheries Statistics and NOAA's Northwest Regional Office.
The NPAFC was established under The Convention of Anadromous Fish in the North Pacific (countries involved were Canada, Japan, The Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and the United States) with the primary purpose being to conserve anadromous fish populations in the northern Pacific Ocean.
