The publication of the Journal of the House of Representatives of the United States of America and the Journal of the Senate of the United States of America is mandated by the U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 5. The journals are the minutes of the meetings on the floor of the House or Senate and they document the floor activities. Floor activities include every motion made and the result of every vote.
