The Readex Non-Depository Government Publications collection (on microform) is yet another source of federal executive material and more, covering the years 1953–2008.
Includes many, but not all, of those United States Government publications not designated to be sent to depository libraries, consisting "of approximately 12,000 items annually, which, for the most part, are not printed by the Government Printing Office, but are produced independently by the issuing agency."--Readex Microprint Corp. catalog, 1979-1980.
The set has an interesting history. Most materials listed in the Monthly Catalog (MoCat) were distributed to libraries throughout the country, and this was indicated by a black dot in the MoCat entry. Lots of materials, however, were not distributed and had very limited print runs; the Readex Corporation obtained and filmed these "non-depository" collections.
To use the collection, request assistance at the GMM Help Desk. To find a document, you will need the MoCat year, month, and entry number, which can be found in the Monthly Catalog of United States Government Publications (MoCat). Staff will pull materials from a stack area and can assist with viewing the opaque microprint card on a microform scanner.
